Debbie Boon was born in 1960 and graduated from Loughborough College of Art in 1980 to begin her creative professional career as a graphic designer and illustrator.

Throughout the nineties and into the new millennium she became well known as a children’s book illustrator, whilst also establishing herself as a painter in commercial and private spheres.

Whether painting animals, flora & fauna, or portraits, Debbie aims to capture and convey her personal experience of the subject through colour, light and texture.

Working on canvas, she uses heavy bodied acrylics and glazes, working quickly at the initial stage to block in the main elements of the composition and then applying layers of paint to create texture. In this way she is able to create original artworks, that have an energy and vibrancy which reflects the ‘joie de vivre’ she feels when faced with a subject that captures her imagination.

Debbie Boon’s work has the ability to sit comfortably in both traditional and contemporary settings and graces the walls of numerous boutique hotels, including Michael Caines signature restaurant in the Royal Clarence Hotel in Exeter.
