Martin Taylor has a background in graphics, which started in the mid 80s. Although art has always been part of his life, he has always aimed to be a recognised artist. Not having spent long in the professional art world, he believes that it is this that has given him the freedom to try many new techniques over the years, and that being self taught and not having the chance to attend university has certainly not held him back from pursuing an artistic path. Entering as many art competitions as possible has spurred Taylor on to explore different techniques and medias. This current style he has been working on started out as a competition entry for still life. Starting in pencil he moved on to pen and then finally finishing in oil pastels. He was then advised to try acrylic on board. He has been hooked on this technique ever since then.
